Regulating.-In an engine using an exhaustheated vaporizer or heater, to increase the working temperatures at low loads the combustion gases are throttled sufficiently at the entrance to the vaporizer or heater to increase their temperature. The by-pass leading to the vaporizer or heater is controlled by a throttle valve which may be connected to a throttle valve in the supply pipe leading to the engine cylinders.
