Coatings, removing from coated fabrics.- Tyre covers and like fabrics are soaked in a rubber solvent such as xylol until the rubber has become brittle and friable. The layers of fabric are then pulled apart and the rubber cement clinging to them is brushed off by the machine shown. The brushing-apparatus consists of revolving wire brushes a to which the fabric is fed at a lower speed by toothed rollers b. The rubber particles fall into a receptacle d and the brushed fabric leaves at o, being detached from the teeth by springs r. A current of air to carry off the solvent may pass through the opening e.
