Microphones; mouthpieces; telephone head sets.-The transmitter and receiver are adjustably secured to the head of an aeronaut whose face is protected, in the case of accident, by a flexible ring placed over the mouthpiece of the transmitter. The diaphragm of the transmitter is damped by an annulus of silk floss strands standing on end, which encloses the carbon granules, while the receiver is provided with an adjustable resistance. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the transmitter a and receiver b are secured to the head by bands n, n1, n2 adjustably connected by wing- nuts n3, the screws of which engage slots in the bands. The receiver b is pivotally connected to an arm n4 and is provided with a regulating- switch b2. The transmitter a, Figs. 2 and 4, is provided with a mouthpiece o, the edge of which is surrounded by a pneumatic or other soft ring o1, while its diaphragm e is damped by an annulus c of silk floss strands which encloses the carbon granules d'.
