Improvements in Time Checking Apparatus for Billiard Tables.

Time checks.-A time-checking apparatus of the kind described in Specification 12,831/13, attached to the side of a billiard table, is combined with a plug E adapted to pass through a hole in a vertically sliding rod F and attached to an obstructing-cord E1 passing across the table. To bring the table into play, a lock e' engaging the cord plug is released by means of a key, and the plug is withdrawn. The rod F is thereby allowed to fall until the upper end is flush with the cushion rail C'. The removal of the cord plug also allows a weighted brake lever D, d3 to fall into a notch d5 and liberate the balance wheel A2 of an ordinary clock provided with an indicating- hand a' and an hour-recorder G'. The table is placed out of use and the clock is stopped, by replacing the obstructing-cord E', raising the rod F, and re-inserting the plug E. The movements of the rod F are cushioned by means of buffers f', f'. The upper end of the rod F, besides acting as an additional obstructing- device, may bear the inscription "Disengaged."
