Improvements in Sighting Apparatus for Adjusting Angles of Aim on Aeroplanes and Automatically Correcting Errors of Verticality.

Instruments for setting-out angles. - Relates to sighting-devices of the sextant type for use in dropping bombs from aircraft and comprising a telescope L and two reflectors A, B for obtaining a line of sight B C. According to the invention, the telescope is immovably fixed on the aircraft, and the reflector A is coupled to a pendulum P by a 2 : 1 gear, so that the angle of sight w, and therefore the line of sight B C, remains constant in spite of the pitching of the aircraft. The reflector B carries an arm R movable over a graduated sector S to adjust the line of sight. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) describes also a needle moving over a dial in front of the driver and coupled to the sighting- device, so as to follow the training of the same and thereby to indicate to the driver how to steer correctly towards the object aimed at. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
