Sealing-wax is made by heating together over a hot fire 3¢ parts of resin, such as colophony, 3 parts of caoutchouc, 1 part each of sulphur and petroleum spirit or naphtha, and 2 parts of dry white lead or Spanish white. Vermilion may be used as a colouring-agent and the proportions may be varied.
