Supporting.-A joint for a portable electriclamp stand of the kind described in Specifications 2 4 8 9 / 1 5, 15,082/15, and 15,083/15, comprises two housings and closure members adapted to cover an opening made by the housings on a movement of one upon the other, the closure members being resiliently connected together. Fig. 3 shows one form of joint consisting of two hemispherical housings 32 connected together by a pivot 18, and two pivoted closure-pieces 36 mounted on the pivot 18 and connected by a spring 37. The closure-pieces 36 are provided with hooks 35, 38 for engaging respectively hooks 39 on the upper housing and hooks 34 on the lower housing 32, the hooks 39 operating the closure members and the hooks 34 limiting their movement. The upper housing may be cut away on opposite sides to allow it to turn through a right-angle. In a modification, the lugs 38, 39 are dispensed with, and the closure members are then moved out of position by the conducting-member.
