摘要
18,162. Miles, H. J. Dec. 30. Calendars.-Relates to clockwork-controlled calendars, in which the successive days and date are marked upon a band that is intermittently and periodically fed forward by a spring motor under the control of the clock, the apparatus being applicable also to band or tape advertising or announcement-displaying mechanism. The band a unwinds from a spool b and is taken up by a drum d fitted to a barrel e tending constantly to rotate under the action of an internal spring wound by a flynut f and provided with non-reverse ratchet and pawl. Between these drums, the band passes around a drum k, with spikes l taking into perforations in the band and normally locked by an escapement double pawl i engaging a four-toothed star-wheel (not shown), the pawl having an arm o tripped once in, say, twenty-four hours by the controlling-clock to produce a single feeding step. To obtain feeding at regular intervals, special disks with adjustable teeth may be mounted on the clock to secure movement at the required moments. Any form of relay motor may be interposed between the clock and the trip arm, the data on the bands may be placed for any direction of travel thereof, and there may be automaticallycontrolled illuminating-arrangements. In a modification, the spring drive for the take-up drum may be derived from the mainspring of the clock by means' of a special train of mechanism.
