Stationary - vessel washing - apparatus; upward current classifiers.-Fine sand to be washed is fed into stagnant water in a vessel B through a central conduit A terminating at C towards the bottom of the vessel B. The sand is passed along a pipe G provided with agitators L and fed with water at the end H, the dirty water passing up channels F at the sides of the conduit A and overflowing at the level D. The sand is discharged by an elevator K, preferably arranged vertically.
