Improvements in and connected with the Electrolytic Deposition of Copper from Acid Solutions.

Waste dilute sulphuric acid from electrolytic vats in which copper is deposited is concentrated and heated with lump sulphur, carbon, or the like, or a mixture of such substances. Any sulphate of iron, aluminium, &c. present is also decomposed. The gas is passed through condensers to remove moisture and is then liquefied; or about 24 per cent. of the gas may first be absorbed by fresh electrolyte.
