An Improved Device for Drawing Lines at a Predetermined Angle to the Vertical on Irregular Objects, such as Rubber Trees, to Indicate the Position of the Tapping Lines.
109,833. Wade, H., (Golledge, G. H.). Sept. 23, 1916. Ruling machines and appliances.-A device for drawing lines at a predetermined angle to the vertical on irregular objects, for example to indicate the position of the tapping-lines on rubber trees, comprises a heavy freely pendulous arm A carrying a guide member or members and markers. In the form shown the guides and markers are constituted by the same elements, namely yielding disks M fixed at the desired angle. The stem B1 of brackets B, which carry the disks, are squared to prevent rotation. The instrument is supported by handles H and is operated by being loosely held so that the weight A will pull it down in the plane of the edges of the disks.
