Hand-trucks of the kind described in the parent Specification, in which the front axle is cranked in order that the platform may be lowered by the handle to bring braking members into contact with the ground, have the rear axle similarly cranked and connected or not with the front axle so that the rear end of the platform may be lowered simultaneously with or independently of the front end. According to the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 5, the front and rear cranked axles E, E1 are connected for simultaneous operation by a bar P having spherical joint connexions Q, Q1 with projections on the axles so as to permit the steering movement of the fore-carriage C. The handle M is rigid with the fore-axle E and, when the platform is lowered thereby, braking members B', F contact with the ground. If, as when the truck is required to carry heavy loads, it is desired that the ends of the truck may be separately raised and lowered, the rear axle may be connected by a bar R to a bell-crank S provided with a handle member W and pivoted to the side of the platform, the fore axle being operable by the handle M as before. As shown in Fig. 5, a truck may be provided with both arrangements.
