Hooks and eyes.-A closed spring hook, Figs. 4 and 5, for use with an ordinary eye j, is formed from a metal blank, Fig. 1, by bending back a tongue e into the central recess c in the rear of the blank, and then bending down the extremity f of the tongue into engagement with the raised portion d of the front of the blank to form the bill of the hook. The aperture k in the raised portion d facilitates passing the eye j underneath the point of the tongue f. The base a is cut away at i, forming a recess to receive the eye when engaged with the hook. A hook bent from wire is shown in Fig. 7, the wings o being flat and the wires rising at p to form a raised centre d with which the bill of the hook makes contact.
