Boilers, superheating in steam and water spaces of; superheating by steam and hot liquids.-A fireless steam locomotive has a water reservoir b which is charged with high-pressure steam which is led through a reducing-valve e and a superheater to the engine. The superheater is arranged in the reservoir, and comprises longitudinal tubes g connecting heads h, i provided with partitions so arranged that each set of tubes forms a continuous coil. The superheater in the construction shown in Fig. 3 is arranged in a closed insulated container q arranged inside the reservoir, and charged with water and high-pressure steam for heating purposes. The insulated superheater may be arranged outside the reservoir.
