Fluid-friction apparatus; casings. - A disk C with a plain or grooved periphery, runs in an annular channel member D which has a tangential opening F. The channel D dips into a container A, and liquid is raised by the disk C and discharged through the opening F to an upper reservoir G formed in the casing E. The casing E may be one casting, including the race D and reservoir G, or may be built up. The invention is described as applied to a grinding-machine, the disk C being attached to the grinding-disk B to which water is supplied from the reservoir G through a flexible or rigid pipe.
