Portable hand-pumps.-Relates to bicycle &c. pumps which are provided with a base-plate, cylinder, piston, and hose connexion, and consists in stamping out the base with apertures communicating with the cylinder and discharge-nozzle and stiffening flanges, and providing a metal plate extending across the apertures. Fig. 1 shows the pump complete, Fig. 2 a plan of the base, and Fig. 3 a section through the base immediately below the pump cylinder. The apertures m and the rim of the base are formed with depending flanges, and the aperture h with the upstanding flange j to which the cylinder is secured. The dished plate k forms with the base the air passage from the cylinder to the hose connexion d. The flanges of the apertures m may extend to the depth of the rim-flange, or may be formed integral with a dished portion, in which case dishes in place of apertures appear.
