摘要
130,657. Cole, E. G., and Spencer & Sons, C. G. March 4, 1918. Aerostats; captive balloons; cars. - The cable of a captive balloon, or the car-suspension cables of a balloon or air - ship, extend through a gland or glands in the envelope and are connected to divergent cords secured to points on the inside of the envelope arranged along one or more lines so that the pull in the cables causes depressions in the envelope and keeps it under the required pressure. Fig. 3 shows in cross-section a captive balloon in which the cable 1 is passed through the envelope by means of a collapsible sleeve 3, and is connected at 12 to divergent cords 10, 13 which are secured along lines 11, 14 on the envelope and are passed over pulleys 8, 9 supported by cords 7 secured along the crest of the envelope. Additional cords 15 may connect the lines 11, 14 to the point 12. Modifications are described in which connexions are made to the ridge only or to four lines on the interior of the envelope.
