Sickles.-A tool for cutting and trimming hedges, shrubbery, grass, corn, bracken, &c. comprises a sickle-like blade and a double blade adjustably pivoted together, one element of the double blade acting as a stop for the material being cut, and one of the blades being provided with an arm for sweeping the cut material over the other. The stop-bar d is arranged a short distance above the straight cutting-blade c and so that its edge is coincident in plan with the cutting-edge of the blade c. It is held in place by a washer e on the pivot pin b of the curved blade a. The free ends of the blade c and bar d may be bent away from one another. The cutting blades a, c are drawn together by means of a bolt g between the pivot b and handle f. An arm or claw h is fastened to the curved blade a to sweep the cut material over the double blade. The curved blade may be provided with a perforated projection j, Fig. 4, to allow of adjustment of the pivot pin b. Interchangeable handles of different lengths, angles, &c. may be provided. The tool may be used in place of a sickle, and as a " ripper " or tool for separating material by gripping it between the points a1, d1 and pulling sharply. According to the Provisional Specification, the tool may be provided with one or more cutting-blades and two or more non-cutting blades. and with claws or arms h on both blades so that the out material may be gripped between them.
