Turning.-In means for storing and transferring to lathes &c. shaft-blanks &c. which have to be machined to like forms, the blanks s are stored in transverse members A, a5, adjustable as regards distance, on bearers a1, a6 supported on standards a2. The upper members incline downwards towards the rear, so that the blanks roll off on to the lower members, being guided by members a8. The lower members are inclined towards the front, so that the blanks roll forward against a stop a9, over which they are rolled on to a carriage C, which is rotatable so that the blank can be turned end for end. The carriage is supported on screw and nut elevating-gear operated by the hand-wheel e6. The blank S2 on the carriage is raised or lowered to bring it in line with the lathe centres &c., and, after being machined, is raised and rolled on to the upper members a5 ready for the next operation.
