Stationary batchmixers with rotary stirrers. - An apparatus for use in the catalytic hydrogenation of fats and oils, designed to cause intimate admixture of the gas and liquid, consists of a cylindrical vessel A heated by steam, hot gases, hot oil bath, &c., and containing a rotary agitator B mounted eccentrically and arranged so that its arms pass close to the lowest point of the vessel. The ends of the arms may be scoop-shaped. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also an arrangement in which a stream of gas is passed through a series of such mixing-vessels. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
