Gratings for preventing choking of boile.r flues; ashes, removing.-Relates to gratings for the front ends of the flues of the saddle boilers of kitchen ranges, and to a construction of the floors of these flues designed to enable them to be cleared without disturbing the fire. Figs. 1 and 3 show the front end of a saddle boiler. The floor is cut away to form a channel A with a sloping floor, the front end of which is lower than the underside of the rear end of the bottom grate of the fire-box. The front end of the boiler flue is closed by a grating D. which is supported by brackets C secured by setting wedge-shaped projecting parts between the boiler and its foundation. This grating may be replaced by a grid, Fig. 5, consisting of a base E and three prongs F secured in the base by inserting the reduced lower ends of the prongs F into a slot in it, and driving wedges H between them. The front end of the channel A may be closed by a shutter suspended by its pivots in the holes a in the brackets C, Fig. 1.
