Actuating by electric motors. - Relates to the driving of pumps such as wet and dry air pumps of the kind in which one pump is driven by a steam cylinder directly over it while the other is driven by a rocking beam. The base-plate 1 carrying the pumps is extended to carry the electric motor 2 and worm gear 4 driving a crank disc 5 which is coupled by a rod 10 to a crank 8 keyed to the arbor 7 of the rocking-beam. Such pumps may have both a steam and an electric driving-gear, either of which may be disconnected.
