Sheet - cutting machines.-Rings for use as filling material in Glover towers instead of being moulded as in the parent Specification are stamped out in the form of truncated cones by cutting punches. Ceramic paste is fed through a cylinder 61 on to an endless band 1', and after passing under a compressing cylinder 17 is carried between cylinders 15, 16. On the periphery of the upper cylinder are provided cutting punches shown in detail in Fig. 3. The band carries the cut-out rings into a chamber 81 through which a current of hot air flows, and the dried rings are then deposited on another band delivering them to a funnel 11 ready for baking. The punching cylinder may be replaced by a reciprocating cutting tool.
