摘要
295,145. Skipwith, H. L. d'E., and Taylor, H. J. June 24, 1916. Mines, marine.- Relates to firing and safety devices for submarine mines, and consists in the provision of one or more balls for locking two members together when the balls are confined by a third member. In Fig. 1, a spring striker 2 provided with a firing pin 1 is locked to a fixed sleeve 4 by balls 6 confined by an outer sleeve 7 into recesses 5 in the sleeve 4 and a groove 3 in the striker 2. The outer sleeve 7 is moved down by an hydrostat 9, which also compresses the spring 11 of the striker. At the appointed depth, a recess 8 in the outer sleeve 7 comes opposite and releases the balls 6, whereupon the compressed spring 11 thrusts the striker against the detonator 12. In a modification, the balls release a primer, which is then brought by the spring within firing reach of a detonator. The movement of the releasing member 7 may be rotary instead of linear. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 124,525.
