In bleaching straw, wool, cotton, and other textile fibres with solutions of peroxide of sodium or strongly alkaline solutions of hydrogen peroxide, the bleaching-lyes are arranged to come into contact, in the apparatus used, with surfaces only of pure nickel. Thus, metal pumps coated with nickel at the parts contacting with the lyes, nickel tubes for the heating-coils conveying the liquid, and nickel-plated iron receptacles may be used; or the whole apparatus may be made of nickel.ALSO:In bleaching fibres with solutions of peroxide of sodium or strongly alkaline solutions of hydrogen peroxide, the bleaching-lyes are arranged to come into contact, in the apparatus used, with surfaces only of pure nickel.
