Barb and like holding devices for socket fixings. -A device for fixing broom and like handles in their sockets comprises a sheet-metal piece bent at the wide part A to the curvature of the socket and having stamped-out barbs P1 which are forced out into the wall of the socket when the handle is driven in. The narrower part C is fluted at B to strengthen it and its end is formed into a nail-like spike P2 bent at right-angles, a bent part or loop L connecting the spike with the fluted part B. The spike is driven into the handle, and may be prized out by means of a tool inserted in the loop L.
