Control mechanism. - In retaining devices for pivoted handles or levers controlling flexible cables on motor cycles &c., vulcanized fibre friction washers are interposed between the lateral surfaces of the pivotal ends of the levers and the non- rotary metallic surfaces between which they are clamped. In the duplex control shown in Fig. 3 the lever bosses f, formed as grooved discs to carry control wires and operating between fixed stops in the usual manner, are recessed on each side to accommodate vulcanized fibre washers g providing a friction-retaining grip with the non- rotary base c and intermediate plate h, the parts being secured on the pivot a by means of a nut l and curved washers k compressing a spring.
