Multiple-chamber kilns.-In a brick kiln comprising a number of separate chambers interconnected for continuous working by a common flue e, each chamber is surrounded by a peripheral flue a communicating therewith through hobbed flues a1 arranged between the fireplaces b. The heating-gases from a kiln chamber are exhausted through the usual floor flues and central well, and can be passed either direct to the chimney through the flue f or through the flue g to the common collecting-flue e. From this flue the hot gases can be passed to the peripheral flue a of any other chamber of the group, and thence through the heating-chamber and the flue f to the chimney. In building new kilns, the flue a may be arranged beneath the fireplaces.
