Stringed instruments, pads for.-A pad to protect the clothing from the bolts and nuts, and to prevent the instrument from slipping, is detachably secured to the rim of a banjo &c. The pad consists of a folded strip of velvet &c. with a rubber tube, cord, or other stuffing inserted, and may have eyelet-holes for lacing.
