Washing - apparatus with screens.-Three conical or pyramidal sieves K, L, M, stated to be adapted for treatment of materials in suspension in a liquid, are arranged as shown in Fig. 1, with alternating non-perforated plates K1, L1, M1 so as to divide the material passing through the apparatus into four parts of different degrees of fineness. The apparatus is supported on hinges or shackles so as to be given jerky movements in a horizontal and vertical direction by a rotating cam-wheel. Each sieve may consist of a pyramidal frame A to which sections of sieving material mounted on spring-wire frames V may be attached by bolts B, a cover-strip D, and nuts E. A resilient seating C may be provided. Trays or collecting plates W may be provided on each section. The valve plate O for the discharge opening of the hopper G is hung on a rod P and is actuated by the upper part of the sieve K, or provision may be made for operating it from a distance.
