Metronomes and other time-indicators; musicholders.-Apparatus for facilitating the synchronizing of a musical or similar performance with the projection of a kinematograph film comprises electromagnetic means, controlled, by a distribu. tor connected to the kinematograph projector, for transmitting intermittent synchronous movement to a music band travelling under an aperture in a desk, a rheostat in the circuit of the kinematograph motor being provided on the disc by which the conductor or performer may control the speed of the kinematograph and the music sheet. A luminous signal is also given in front of each bar of music on the sheet as it is to be rendered. The kinematograph projector drives a perforated distributor-sheet 4, 41 controlling a contact-lever through which a source of current 39 energizes intermittently an electromagnet 37 rotating, bv pawl-and-ratchet mechanism 35, the feed roller 34 of the music band 41. The conductor varies the speed of the picture-projection and the music band to suit the desired speed of the music by a rheostat 42 in the circuit of the kinematograph motor 45. On the music band each bar of music on successive lines 65, 651 is placed between the two of four broad opaque lines 52 - - 55 which are interrupted where they cross the staves. Under the band at the aperture 32 in the desk 31 is a ground glass plate 66x with four transparent windows 60 - - 63, arranged under the lines 52 - - 55 and occupying the space between the successive staves. A light inside the desk thus produces a luminous patch in front of each bar of music as it is to be rendered, the band moving forward by steps of one-quarter the distance between successive staves. The distributor-sheet 4, 41 may also control a metronome or alternately-lighted lamps 65x, 66 en the desk 31.
