May 17, 1922, Reflectors are mounted on a pillar 1 supported on the ground and located at the intersection of the centre lines of cross roads for indicating the presence of on-coming vehicles. The pillar is arranged to be perpendicular to the plane containing the centre lines of the cross-roads. A single mirror 9 of cylindrical form may be supported by a flange 5 at the top of the pillar 1 and kept in position by a cover 8 secured by a bolt 7 in the extension 6 of the pillar 1, or the reflector may comprise a number of plane or convex mirrors similarly secured. The tops of the mirrors are tilted outwards as shown so that the horizon is seen above the centre of the mirrors, reducing the amount of sky visible and facilitating observation. When several mirrors are employed, the horizontal traces of the planes of the mirrors are approximately at right angles to the bisectors of the angles of the cross-roads. The pillar 1 is preferably made of reinforced concrete.
