202,795. Ikeda, K., Isobe, H., and Okazawa, T. June 27, 1922. Oils, recovering; fuller's earth.-Gasolene, pentane, hexane, benzol, or other volatile oils or naphthalene are extracted from coal gas or natural or similar gases by passing the gas through a column of floridin or other form of acidic clay a. When the floridin is almost saturated it is heated electrically or by passing steam or hot oil through a jacket c and the stream of gas is reduced, whereby the adsorbed gasolene is vaporized and carried into a condenser d and a receiver f. The gas escapes by an outlet g. The acidic clay is prepared by kneading 100 parts with 80-110 parts of water, tearing the mass into pieces the size of a peanut or a walnut or pressing it through small holes to form rough-surfaced threads or sticks, and drying at 150-600‹ C. for about an hour.
