Distempers.-A composition for coating stone steps or other stone-work consists of 4 parts of a cream-like mixture of soft clay and water, 1 part of liquid glue, dextrine or other adhesive, 8 parts of kaolin powder, “ part of disinfectant such as carbolic acid or naphthalene, and sufficient water to form a liquid or paste. The composition may be coloured, as for example, by the addition of ferric oxide.
