Hydrometers. - Apparatus for indicating variation in the specific gravity of a liquid beyond predetermined limits comprises a casing a with apertures b to admit liquid to the interior. A hydrometer c working in the casing is provided with a guided stem d carrying a bridge piece g which, when the specific gravity of the liquid falls beyond a predetermined point, dips into cups hand completes an electric circuit. In a modified form, the whole of the apparatus floats in the liquid, the casing a being supported by floats.
