Improvements in and relating to stands or supports for experimental mechanical apparatus

Teaching mechanics.- A stand or support for apparatus for conducting experiments in mechanics comprises a slotted bed 5, Fig. 3, mounted on supports 6 and provided with vertical end-posts 9 carrying cross-bars 10 between which are located rods 15 parallel with the bed, the apparatus being attached to the bed, end-posts, or rods 15 by blocks, bolts, or other securing devices. The cross-bars 10 are adjustable vertically on the posts 9 by screws 12, and are provided with a number of holes 13 and screws 14 for adjustably positioning the rods 15 which are interchangeable. The apparatus is attached to the end-posts 9 or the rods 15 by adjustable blocks 16. Fig. 4, provided at one side with a hook 18 and at the opposite side with an eye 19. The end-posts 9 may be replaced by upright T-pieces carrying at their upper ends parallel rods or a slotted plate.
