A process for obtaining soluble acid calcium - or calcium - magnesium salts of inositphosphorsaeure

Soluble acid calcium or calcium-magnesium salts of inosite phosphoric acid are prepared from alkali or magnesium compounds of inosite phosphoric acid by a direct or indirect process involving the steps of double decomposition with a calcium salt and precipitation of the acid salts with alcohol. When a saturated or unsaturated alkali salt of inosite phosphoric acid forms the starting material, sufficient acid is added to the aqueous solution to form the acid salt, followed by the addition of a soluble calcium salt and the product precipitated with alcohol. In the case when magnesium salts of inosite phosphoric acid comprise the starting material, several methods are available. With a saturated magnesium salt, a sufficient amount of acid is added to form the acid salt before adding the soluble calcium salt and precipitating with alcohol; by using less than the equivalent quantity of soluble calcium salt, acid calcium-magnesium compounds of inosite phosphoric acid are produced. With saturated or acid magnesium salts, conversion into the saturated alkali salts may first be effected and these then treated as above, or the alkali salts are converted into the saturated calcium salts and acid added to form the acid salts which are precipitated with alcohol; alternatively the saturated or acid magnesium salts are first converted into the saturated calcium salts, acid then added to form the acid salts and these precipitated with alcohol. Examples are given.
