Reels.-In a flanged guide drum or roller of the kind formed by bending up the ends of a cylinder or tube to form flanges, the bent-up flanges are of the full depth required for the working of the drum. In the illustrated construction a piece of tube 1, is outwardly flanged at its ends, and fitted with recessed end pieces 3 having holes 4 for shafts or gudgeon pins 7. Packing 5 is provided between the ends 3 and the tube, and the roller runs on ball or roller bearings carried by discs 6 at the inner ends of the gudgeon pins. The pins 7 are fixed non-rotatably by screws 12, and guards 13 are provided to prevent lodging of material in the recessed ends of the drum.
