Wire strainers.-An appliance for straining and securing wires, particularly those used in fencing, comprises a bar 1 having a bifurcated depending portion 7 that serves as a guide for one of the wires and a forward inclined portion 3 connected to the main portion by a neck 2 and provided with a recess 6 to receive a loop 9a on the wire 9. The inclined portion is apertured to guide the second wire 11 which is strained by being coiled on a drum 12. The drum is provided with transverse and longitudinal holes 12a, 12b respectively to receive the operating tool 15 in its wording and inoperative positions respectively. The too] 15 may have a hammer shaped head. The wires are secured by rotation of the tool as a whole about the loop 9a and by winding the free end of the wire about itself.
