Suction apparatus. - In suction cylinders or rolls having longitudinal channels a2 draining away to either one or both ends of the cylinder, a gutter or gutters a3 are provided in each channel to catch any liquid that may be left in the channel after it has passed the suction outlet in the end cover C. The gutters are arranged so that they are inclined towards the outlet at the bottom position of their rotation. The end covers are provided with two discharge outlets c3, c6. Through the second the liquid caught in the gutters may be drained away by gravity.
