Paddle-wheels.-For supporting and propelling boats above water, the boat, which is preferably of stream-line form, is provided with a paddlewheel or wheels having a number of fixed pairs of cambered vanes which are mutually inclined and spaced radially. Protruding from the bolt 1, Fig. 2, is a driving shaft 3 on which are mounted wheels 2, each comprising two conical discs 4 on a disc 5. Near the periphery are cross-pins 7 around which is fitted a closure member 6, and internal ties 8 are also provided. Beyond the member 6 and between the cones 4 are arranged cambered vanes 9, 10, Fig. 4, inclined to form a larger space 11 at the forward edges. A single central wheel may be used in place of two side wheels.
