Indicators actuated by floats.-A liquid-level indicator, suitable for the fuel tank of a motor vehicle, comprises a calibrated dial 1 mounted on the face of the filler cap 2. A tube 4 is bent so that it terminates in a horizontal portion 5 and' contains a flexible wire 6 carrying a pointer 7 at the upper end. The free end of the wire 6 is connected to a float arm 8, which in the construction shown is an extension of the wire 6 at an angle, without any intermediate gearing, and the level of the float is indicated by the pointer 7. In a modification, the indicator may be at a distance from the tank in which case the wire 6 is divided at 11, Fig. 6 and 7, one portion being provided with a square plug 12 which engages with a socket 13 on the other portion. The tube 4 is also divided, one portion 16 being integral with a plate 14 on the tank 3, while the. other portion is provided with a nut 17 which secures the two portions.
