Moulding by dipping. - A hollow metallic model of the human hand with the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers shortened for use in making rubber gloves, is made by casting in a plaster mould and core. The mould is made, in halves, from a hand in a natural position. The core is made from this mould by lining with a layer of plaster and sawdust or the like, this lining terminating one inch from the wrist end of the mould and between the second and third joints of the second, third and fourth fingers. The core is then withdrawn, freed from the lining, dried, and replaced in the mould. The casting made in this mould is closed at the wrist a and mutilated fingers with metal plates, that at the wrist having a screwed hole b to receive a steam connection. It may be necessary to remove some metal between the fingers by saw cuts at c, d and e.
