Valves, arrangement of. -In means for fitting a ring valve 2 to the piston 1 of a compressor, the piston is formed with a central recess in which is secured the hub 13 of a spider having three or more resilient arms 14 which enter slots 8 formed in the extension 7 of the valve, so as to limit the opening of the valve on the down-stroke of the piston. The spider is held in place, and the piston secured to the connecting-rod 6, by a screw 11 connected to the joint 10.
