Book protectors.-The open pages b, Fig. 1, of an atlas, book of diagrams, &c. are protected from inclement weather or from soiling by the hands, by means of sheets d of celluloid or like transparent material attached by flexible hinge strips c to either the vertical or horizontal edges of the cover a. When used in conjunction with an atlas, the transparent sheets may be provided with vertical and horizontal lines representing scale divisions, or outline figures may be depicted thereon when the transparent sheets are applied to a book of anatomical or other diagrams. The outermost edges of the transparent sheets may have a reinforcing strip attached thereto, and clips or lugs may be provided at the outer corners to hold the sheets in close contact with a, page or map, or the clips may comprise channelshaped edges e, Fig. 3, formed on the transparent sheets to receive the edges of a page or pages b beneath it. The hinge strips c may be integral with the leather or other binding material of the book &c. cover, or strips of separate material may he sewn or otherwise secured to the cover boards.
