Machines, utilizing inertia to obtain movements in.-The apparatus is stated to be for the purpose of augmenting the power developed by a motor of any kind by utilizing the centrifugal force of an eccentrically loaded disc driven by the motor. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1, electric motors E, E1 drive discs A, A11 eccentrically loaded by weights D, D1 and geared together by a wheel A1. The discs A, A11 are mounted on a pivoted beam C which is oscillated by the centrifugal pull of the weights, the movement being transmitted by segments through free-wheels to a shaft I. In the device shown in Fig. 2, the, apparatus of Fig. 1 is modified by mounting the beam U on a gear-wheel L which meshes with a gear-wheel G on a shaft I, ratchet wheels being interposed which inhibit rotation in one direction so that the beam C is compelled to revolve. The motor E in this modification drives the wheel A1. In the device shown in Fig. 4, weights D, D1 rotated by a motor E through bevel gearing reciprocate a carriage M which rotates a shaft I through ratchet wheels G. In the device shown in Fig. 6, a mass D rotated in a horizontal plane reciprocates a carriage M running in a groove Q.
