Disc apparatus.-In a machine for grinding grooves in bores, for example, keyways in wheel bosses, the grinding-wheel i is driven by a turbine to which fluid is supplied through a pipe 4 from a vessel 3 by a pump 2. The fluid employed is suitable, for cooling the work and tool for example, petroleum, and after leaving the turbine passes through the work and the spindle 6 of the work table 5, returning to the vessel 3; the fluid is partially choked up within the work and thus effectively cools it and the wheel. The wheel i is supported in a holder a adjustable on a slide 19, which is reciprocated vertically on a transversely adjustable slide 22 by a lever 18 moved by a cam 13; the cam is connected to a spur wheel 12 driven from the shaft of the pump. The slide 22 is mounted on a head 23 which is reciprocated on the machine frame 24 by a lever 27 actuated by a cam 28 connected to the gear 12, and the table 5 is rotated intermittently by a pin 29 on the gear 12 and a gear wheel 31 having three radial slots 30; a pin 35 lifted by a cam 36 locks the table.
