Improvements in hollow grinding bodies for ball-, drum- and tubular mills

Ball mills. - Hollow grinding-bodies for use in ball, drum, and tubular mills for fine-grinding Portland cement &c. are prismatic in shape with the edges and corners sharp or rounded. The grinding-bodies may be closed at one end and preferably their length is not greater than their greatest width. In cross-section, the grinding- body may be a triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, or other polyhedron of regular or irregular shape. Fig. 14 shows a hollow cubical grinding-body closed at one end and having rounded corners. In Fig. 18, the grinding-body has a globular head end. The grinding-bodies are made of steel by forging, punching, pressing, &c.
