Improvements in electromechanically controlled switches and switching systems for use in automatic telephone exchanges and other remotely controlled systems
290,859. Aldendorff, F. Nov. 19, 1926. Divided application. Automatic e x c h a n g e selectors of stop-controHed type for use for example with the circuits described in Specification 289,296 are driven by individual electric motors or by a common power shaft. As showm in Figs, 6 and 7, the motor drives the wiper shaft after a certain amount of idle movement to enable it to get up speed and resistance is then automatically cut into the armature circuit. When the motor is started it first rotates the disc e clockwise against a weak spring p secured between the disc and the wiper shaft. After half a revolution, a projection g on the disc engages an arm o1 on the wiper shaft. this engagement operating contact springs to remove a short circuit from resistances i, h in the armature circuit. In the switch shown in Fig. 1, the selector is driven through a pair of spring plates 8 embracing a flanged ring on the stopping disc. In a modification, the motor and wiper shafts are at right angles. As shown in Fig. 3 a winding 9a magnetizes a disc 7a on a common power shaft to cause it to drive an iron &c. ring on a flexible disc 12a on the wiper shaft.
