297,758. Roman, A. S. May 27, 1927. Direct air &c pressure apparatus; valves, actuation and arrangement of.-Apparatus for injecting cement &c. into walls &c. and for dredging purposes comprises a chamber 1 into which the cement is drawn by suction through a valve 6 and forced by. compressed air through a valve 7 into the delivery pipe 63. The valve seats may be washed by water injected through the hollow valve stems, and the chamber by water injected through pipes 16, 15. The chamber is connected by a pipe 39 to a slide valve 38 which, by means of a port 40, connects the chamber successively to suction, atmospheric pressure, and compressed air. The valve is moved by a piston 37 actuated by air pressure admitted by a valve 45, which is closed by a cam 42 on the piston rod 41 when the valve 38 connects the chamber 1 to atmosphere. A pin 43 operates through a lever 47 a plug cock 48 controlling the admission of pressure water from pipes 68, 79 to pipes 81, 82 connected to the stems of the valves 6, 7. The pipe 68 supplies water also to the pipe 16 and to the delivery pipe 63. The compressed air pipe 71 is connected by a pipe 79 to a port 33 in the valve casing 24 and by a branch 66 to the water container 62. The suction pipe 76 is connected to a port 34 in the valve casing 24, and by the branch 66 to the water container. A float 13 in the container operates, by means of a drum and cable, a pilot valve controlling the admission and exhaust of the compressed air which actuates the piston 37. It operates also an indicator 49 of the amount of material in the chamber 1 and a meter which registers the number of operations.
